ABOUT
Charlotte Lancelot is a Belgian industrial designer whose work explores the relationship between objects, materials and craftsmanship. With a distinctive sensitivity to form and materiality, she creates pieces where function, emotion and narrative intertwine.
A graduate of La Cambre in Industrial Design and a professor in the Master's programme in Social Innovation Design in Brussels, Lancelot approaches design through observation, experimentation and material exploration. Her practice moves fluidly between industrially produced objects, limited editions and one-off pieces, alongside an ongoing investigation into materials and making processes, with a particular interest in textiles and embroidery.
Fascinated by the act of making, she works closely with brands, manufacturers, architects and institutions, bringing together traditional techniques and contemporary approaches to shape new expressions of design. Her work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary production techniques, driven by a keen attention to detail and material expression.
At the heart of her practice lies a desire to explore the subtle connections between people and objects. Drawing on shared sensory experiences — a gesture, a memory, an emotion, a perception — she reinterprets the familiar, giving tangible form to intangible experiences.
Beyond trends, her designs seek a more lasting resonance, where objects become carriers of stories, memories and emotions, inviting a deeper, more personal relationship with those who encounter them.
